New York City: Rockefeller Center

On Top Of The World!

I was so excited to see THE TREE still shining bright over The Rink at Rockefeller Center when I rounded the corner as it was a little over a week after January 1! The crazy thing is that I saw the holiday decorations at the Marriott Marquis (See the Times Square Blog Post) when I first arrived that day, and, by the time I went back to regroup -- before heading home, they were being removed. Talk about great timing! Whoo!!!

It's an understatement to say things are bigger and possibly even better in New York. The scale of everything is just HUGE. Just picture yourself in a scene from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! Yeah, it's like that!" - MRM x LBDSAW

I've been to see the lighting of the tree some years before (yup, the televised one) and even got a police escort to the spot right under the tree. I know folks! Ha...I actually had just met the officer that day! I meet incredible folks ALL OF THE TIME, good people!

Each year, a massively massive tree is erected and placed at Rockefeller Center. The first was a Balsam fir in 1931. 2023's Norway Spruce made its way from Vestal, New York to make its debut. I was so excited to see folks on the ice and taking in the sites, but the real show stopper of that moment was just a head turn away.

Dior's Carousel of Dreams at Saks is a 10-story + installation at the NYC Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship store! I LITERALLY just got this info online as I prepared this post. It took my breath away...during the day. What's even more amazing is that it has a light show in the evening. I missed it but am still in awe of the gifts of artists and designers who bring such delights to life! I can't wait to get back to the city to see more. Thanks for the inspiration, NYC! You ROCK-e-feller!!! Hehehe...
